Is an Xbox Livestream Coming Next Week? [VIDEO]

According to rumors, it seems that not only Sony but Microsoft is also planning a livestream for the public.

In light of these rumors, we already reported this week that Sony is planning something for Thursday, April 16, with another State of Play livestream. Knowing the company, Sony will confirm this by Tuesday at the latest – if there really is a live stream on that day. They really need to show something regarding the PlayStation 5, because we don’t know much from Sony’s side about what PlayStation Studios, i.e., the first-party teams, are working on. Okay, there’s Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine and Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but that’s not much.

Jez Corden said in the latest episode of his podcast (which will pop up in the news again today in connection with another story!) that there will be something that Xbox fans might also be interested in next week. He hinted that they’ll have a little show of their own, and since they previously had a third-party broadcast, we’ll most likely hear some news about first-party games – if what Corden said in the video clip embedded below is actually true.

If Nintendo decides to throw a Nintendo Direct into the mix as well, there will certainly be some interesting announcements next week from all three console manufacturers, but it looks like the big N will sit this one out, leaving Sony and Microsoft to figuratively beat each other up so the Japanese company can then neatly lure gamers over to its own side.

That said, we do have one question: if Microsoft is preparing something as well, will there be some bad news mixed in with the announcements? We’re not thinking of a price hike – Sony already announced that in early April – but it’s always wise to prepare for the worst-case scenario, so we won’t be too disappointed by the whole thing. Anyway, we’ll surely know everything within a few days.
