MachineGames’ next game won’t just be a game, as there will be plenty of content from other perspectives as well.
MinnMax did a short interview with Axel Torvenius (Creative Director of MachineGames) and Jens Andersson (Design Director), and that’s to be taken literally, as they answered 141 questions. One of the questions was how long Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would be, but they didn’t give a concrete answer. Torvenius only said that it would be the studio’s biggest and longest game ever.
The information on the How Long To Beat website gives us a clue. Wolfenstein: The New Order is said to be the longest game ever developed by MachineGames. It takes about 11.5 hours to complete the main story, and from that we can estimate that Indiana Jones’ story will take at least 12 hours. But that’s not what we’re talking about here, we’re talking about how many scenes Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will have. According to Torvenius, the game will have about 3 hours and 45-50 minutes of scenes!
So four hours is almost the equivalent of two Indy movies, so from that perspective it’s pretty massive for a timed Xbox exclusive! For this reason, it’s a good idea to pack some food, because when there are longer scenes, the game turns into a movie, and it’s not stupid to eat something during the game (and have a cloth handy, because a greasy controller is no good either).
Indy will be able to escape death if he can crawl to his hat, so the treasure hunter’s headgear will be an important part of the gameplay here as well. And Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is not too far away, coming to Xbox Series and PC on December 9 (Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will have access on day one). The PlayStation 5 port will arrive sometime in the spring (no word on when).
