We can expand Larian‘s successful game by adding more than a thousand lines of synchronized dialogue.
The goal of the new Baldur’s Gate 3 mod is to restore several scenes that were deleted from the Early Access version of the game, which was available on PC for nearly three years before the full release. The aptly named mod, “Early Access Scenes Restored”, is available on Nexus Mods by HyperspaceTowel. It has successfully restored a number of cut scenes and also created entirely new ones. The mod adds more NPC encounters and camp events, more companion reactions, more approvals (or disapprovals), and brand-new content, as some scenes are completely new. This Baldur’s Gate 3 mod restores the following NPCs and camp events: the first camp visit, the Enthralled fishermen, Nerela, Rurik, the shell child, Gale’s stag ragout, Gale’s loss, the civil war after the druids, Shadowheart’s ultimatum, and Ceremorphosis’s seduction.
Most companions available in Act 1, including Astarion, Gale, Lae’zel, Shadowheart, Karlach, and Wyll, now react again to certain story events. The modder also claims to have reworked some scenes to improve camera work and timing. Some text cut during Early Access has been inserted into dialogue in the full release, a few Origin dialogue options have been added here and there, and entirely new scenes were created for Wyll and Karlach. According to the modder, even more cut Baldur’s Gate 3 content remains to be restored, including Thralls on the Nautiloid, additional Wyll and Karlach reactions, and further voiced lines for Tav.
Earlier this year, we also reported that Swen Vincke, Larian‘s CEO, commented on the lack of a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Baldur’s Gate 3, saying the port was not up to them. If they owned the IP (which would not be cheap…), it almost certainly would have already been released on the big N’s platform.
