Black Myth: Zhong Kui: New Video for the Lunar New Year [VIDEO]

Lunar New Year and Chinese New Year are the same thing, but that’s not the point – the point is what Game Science published to celebrate the holiday.

The six-minute video is running in-engine (Unreal Engine 5) and celebrates the Lunar New Year, which begins on February 17. The Year of the Horse is coming, and Game Science stressed that what we see here is not canon and does not represent the game’s story – it was made strictly for entertainment.

Ghosts must be hunted without light, but those within burn deep for the fight. Thanks to players’ steadfast support, the first Black Myth launched safely. After completing the journey with the Destined One, the developers want to take a cautious first step: build even more distinct gameplay experiences, challenge themselves with bolder features, and bring fresh ideas into their world and narrative.

Zhong Kui was a natural choice born from that aspiration and other contributing factors. They say they are confident they can introduce refreshing changes and create new things with this project, while taking a hard look at past mistakes and regrets. And to everyone who loves Black Myth: Wukong: the Journey to the West does not end here. Black Myth: Zhong Kui draws from the same foundation of ancient Chinese mythology and folklore. It will remain a standard single-player action RPG, following the same business model as before. This time, however, you won’t be playing as a monkey – though the team is still researching and experimenting with the concrete differences between Wukong and Zhong Kui.

The developers say they can’t wait to tell new stories and deliver new ways to be entertained, while making sure Wukong players feel at home and are surprised in the best possible way. Game Science hasn’t shared many specifics about target platforms yet; officially, it’s planned for PC and all mainstream consoles. The only question is whether next-gen hardware will be on the market by then.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
