Star Wars: Galactic Racer has received a new “gameplay” trailer and fresh screenshots, and publisher Secret Mode alongside developer Fuse Games finally spelled out what kind of racing adventure they are aiming for. Revealed during Sony’s State of Play, the video teases high-speed races across both new and familiar planets, introduces several key characters, and confirms the return of one of the galaxy’s most iconic sports – podracing.
According to Gematsu, Secret Mode and Fuse Games have released a new gameplay trailer and a batch of screenshots for Star Wars: Galactic Racer. The new footage puts the emphasis on raw speed and planetary variety, while also giving the first clearer look at the narrative angle and the cast that will accompany players through the campaign.
The story revolves around the Galactic League, an unsanctioned racing circuit that emerged from the lawless Outer Rim and is now dominated by the well-connected, underhanded Kestar Bool. With his creation slipping out of his control and no better options left, league organizer Darius Pax turns to Shade, a fearless lone pilot who carries a personal grudge against the Bool family. The objective is straightforward but messy: take Kestar down and reclaim control of the league, in a conflict that blends survival, reputation, and revenge.
On the gameplay side, the description frames an “immersive” campaign built around a branching chain of events. As you progress, you earn parts, tools, and upgrades designed to give you an edge in the championship. Shade is not locked to a single machine either: players can experiment with different build approaches across multiple repulsorcraft types – landspeeders, skim speeders, speeder bikes, and, of course, podracers. You will also work with mechanic Hibi to assemble an ultimate vehicle tuned to your preferred racing style, while learning to adapt, forge alliances, and take down rivals on the way to becoming the Galactic League’s champion.
The package is not campaign-only. Multiple modes are highlighted, including online racing with up to 12 players competing for supremacy across different game modes where only the fastest survive. There is also an Arcade mode built for instant action, with time trials and precision driving aimed at players chasing leaderboard runs. Finally, Scenarios mode is positioned as the “twist” option: races take place under unique conditions, ranging from practical track familiarization to hardcore events meant to push piloting skills to the limit. More mode details are expected as the release gets closer.
Launching in 2026, the Structure Already Looks Clear
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is due out in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, with the PC release available via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Based on the new trailer and screenshots, the pitch is less about a simple “race and repeat” loop and more about tying progression to a story frame, where the campaign’s upgrade economy and branching route of events help define pacing.
It is also notable that the vehicle lineup is broader than a single nostalgia hook. By leaning into multiple repulsorcraft categories, the game signals that racing is meant to include experimentation and build decisions, not just reflex driving. Different parts and upgrade paths imply different handling profiles and risk-reward approaches, which fits the repeated emphasis on adapting strategies and dealing with rivals in a league defined by questionable ethics.
Meanwhile, the mode suite reads like a practical attempt to cover three audiences at once: competitive players get 12-person online races, quick-session fans get Arcade time trials and precision challenges, and players who enjoy constraints and curveballs get Scenarios with unusual conditions. If Fuse Games can deliver responsive handling and consistent “game-feel” at high speed, the promise of modern podracing could finally land as more than a reference – it could be the spine of a full-featured racer.
