Sony is targeting pretty wide with the PlayStation 4, presenting games to all sorts of gamers, not just the hardcore ones playing Killzone and Call of Duty. They’re also trying to the conquer the hearts of casual gamers with a ton of indie titles on the PlayStation 4 as well.
Lately, Sony’s Andrew House said that the company is aiming for Wii owners who initially missed the PS3 and Xbox 360, hoping to attract them to the PlayStation 4. It displays the shift in Sony’s strategy, where there was too much prominence on hardcore gamers with the PS3, Sony is casting a wider net with the PlayStation 4.

“Our big opportunity is to welcome back an audience much earlier in the lifecycle that possibly bought into the Wii previously.”, told House, who added that they are already seeing former Wii owners upgrade to the PlayStation 4, even if they didn’t own a PS3 or Xbox 360 in the past.
The PlayStation 4 has done particularly well when it comes to sales — the official sales numbers from Sony are 9+ million, and that doesn’t take into account sales of the past few months.
