Hotline Miami 2 was denied classification in Australia, so their developer: Jonatan Söderström told a fan that was affected and other that are to “just pirate it!” Hotline Miami 2 was actually denied classification because this scene was in the game.
Devolver guarded the scene quoting that as soon as you begin the game you’re given the option to avoid the scenes of sexual violence, which is similar to the option in Call of Duty where you can skip the airport mission. In addition Devolver thinks that the description of the scene according to the board is more graphic than the actual scene itself.
Whe a fan of the game have heard the unfortunate news he emailed Söderström and asked him how he could get the game and still pay for it. He tried to find a few solutions about he could get the game involving him actually paying for it and in response good guy Söderström said, “If it ends up not being released in Australia, just pirate it after release. No need to send us money, just enjoy the game!”
This email was later confirmed by Fork Parker, who is Devolver’s fake CFO twitter account. It’s great to see Devolver supporting fans of their game and allowing them any means to access it.
Hopefully not everyone takes advantage of this idea and others actually support them through buying it. Still Aussies can rejoice and have a fun time building murderous chains once again, when Hotline Miami 2 is released later this year.
