Condemned 3 in the making? Jace Hall is looking for it…

Condemned: Criminal Origins was one of the most chilling horror action adventures at the Xbox 360 launch. It offered an alternative to the console’s many shooters and racers while scaring the shit out off everybody who played it. While Condemned remained a cult classic in the years that followed, its sequel Condemned 2: Bloodshot was less successful. With nearly eight years since the second part game, the series sadly seemed to fade away.

Suddenly, however, founder of the franchise’s developer Monolith, Jace Hall, has expressed interest in bringing the series back. In a post on Facebook, Hall stated:

“Deep thought..and question…

I helped to create a video game console franchise called “Condemned.” I currently own the entire franchise.

There have been 2 game titles released for the franchise, “Condemned: Criminal Origins” and “Condemned: Bloodshot” – they both did well, and I am consistently asked when a third game might be created.

Since I am focused on other things, and will be for quite some time, this franchise is just sitting there.

I am contemplating finding an interested and proven Indie development team AND PROVIDING IT TO THEM, so that they can take over the franchise and move it forward.

As an indie, it can be very hard to get marketing/media attention for a title that you work on. This franchise is already quite known, has market demand, and is in an innovative genre/category.

Should I explore this idea further? What say you all?”

With indie horror games being highly successful, Hall might be onto the right idea. Finding a talented indie studio to reboot (or develop a Condemned 3) could be a good ideabeneficial, and considering he owns the rights to the franchise, not a huge risk.

The question now becomes how the series would be without Monolith, which has moved onto the fantastic Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.
