This Homefront is (sadly?) not the same Homefront: despite the first game released in 2011, the sequel isn’t being developed by Kaos Studios and it’s definitely not published by THQ, as both companies have disappeared since then. Instead, Deep Silver is developing it internally and they will publish the title as well next spring.
Gamescom has a playable demo for the attendants, but Deep Silver thought about people who stayed at home, as they published the trailer and a few screenshots of the game. Homefront: The Revolution will have a group of gerillas rise against the North Korean military dictatorship in the fallen United States – something is already brewing in the outskirts of Philadelphia.
As we are quite significantly outpowered, strategy will be essential to survive – but let’s face it, the fallen, dystopian futuristic United States is an interesting idea to play with. The story however, is quite generic, so the gameplay has to be excellent in order to be successful.
Homefront: The Revolution will launch next spring on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC – don’t mind the Xbox One logo in the end of the trailer, as it’s originating from Microsoft’s conference.
