Electronic Arts and DICE have put together a gameplay trailer of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst for Gamescom, and honestly, we were not disappointed! The most important elements of the game – namely, the dynamic parkour-style movement and the combat – can be seen in this five minute long video too, so it gives a perfect taste of the upcoming game. Faith won’t be disappointing as of now – especially because DICE won’t use Unreal Engine 3 as in the first game, but instead, the in-house Frostbite 3 will be adapted in Catalyst. That might be an excellent technical move.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has a quite expensive Collector’s Edition (you can read more about that here), so you better start throwing the dollars in that jar already, if you are interested. Faith – as it’s going to be a story of the past – will not be able to use guns in Catalyst, so more focus will be put onto the parkour. DICE themselves admitted that this is the case. You can spot this in the trailer too.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be out on February 23 in the US and February 26 in Europe for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
