Star Wars Battlefront: Not a „single system” is shared with Battlefield

DICE were worried about that their upcoming game, Star Wars Battlefront would be looked at as a simple Battlefield reskin with minimal changes, but they tried to dissolve these thoughts. DICE’s general manager, Patrick Bach has spoken with the UK Official PlayStation Magazine about it, and he said that their new game will not share a „single system” with their flagship Battlefield titles. (They didn’t make this year’s spinoff Hardline though, that was developed by Visceral). Of course, the Frostbite engine will still be used, but Bach didn’t think about this when he said the aforementioned comment.

He thinks that some players might be surprised that it will even be a DICE title, but the quality of Battlefront, the ambience and the audiovisual quality will bring the usual suspect high quality in this Star Wars shooter. So we can simply say that they try to not simply copy over everything and redraw things here and there into Star Wars style.

We’ll see about this in November, that is when the game will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Electronic Arts hopes to sell nine to ten million copies of this game, which is a brave, but honestly, a realistic expectation by the publisher to achieve.
