Rumours – they always find a way to bring up the possibility of a facelifted, slimmer and smaller PlayStation 4, but this time around, Sony decided to clarify their situation, effectively dissolving all rumours.
PlayStation India’s boss (interesting, why not Shuhei Yoshida himself?) Atindriya Bose says that Sony is focusing on launching the 1 terabyte model of the console at the moment. It makes sense, because PS3’s Slim version was released roughly three years after the launch of the console, while the PlayStation 4 hasn’t been on the market for two years yet. Also, the Slim was thrown to the market just when the PS3’s sales started to dwindle, while the PS4 is really selling well (and it might be even better because of the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain bundles for September), plus the original PS4 is quite compact and light compared to the Xbox One. We shouldn’t really wait for this to happen.
We also can hardly imagine a Slim version of a PlayStation 4, while keeping the original style… maybe it might be introduced in 2016 during the E3. Or not.
