On Sony‘s conference at Paris Game Week, 2K-Gearbox’s Battleborn was also mentioned. This is also a reason why we have to wait a while until Borderlands 3 launches (and we think it will tie together with Tales from the Borderlands’ continuation…). On this presentation, three multiplayer competitive game modes were shown off, namely Capture, Meltdown and Incursion. All these have 10 players go against each other in 5v5 teams.
Capture is like Capture the Flag, but without a flag – teams have to complete and hold certain objectives on the maps to win. Meltdown brings the winner, whose team can throw more robot minion in the maps’ center, which will all have an incinerator. Incursion will require us to defend our base from AI-controlled minions, but we will also have to try and destroy the other team’s base.
25 different heroes will be in the final game, and it will have an open beta on all three platforms (PS4, X1, PC), but first, the PlayStation 4 will receive it. The game will launch on February 9, 2016.
