So far, Final Fantasy VII was mentioned during two out of two PlayStation Experiences. While Square Enix caused huge disappointment in 2014 with the announcement of a lazy PC-to-PS4 port of Final Fantasy VII, they managed to flip an 180° turn a year later: they showed brand new gameplay footage of the Final Fantasy VII Remake – it’s very promising!
In the trailer, we see new environments, and some battle is also shown in this small clip. The battle system seems to be revamped, but it was expected. While it’s still an ATB (active time battle) system, it doesn’t look completely brought over from the 1997 original. Also, if you know Advent Children, you’ll see the cast from that as well. Well, well, well: it looks like Square Enix might surprise us in the end.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will launch as a PlayStation 4-timed exclusive soon, and from what we have seen of it so far, it might be excellent. One more quick thing: during PlayStation Experiences, the previously mentioned PC-to-PS4 port was launched on the PlayStation Store, but who would play that?
Increased hit points… nice battle system
