Rockstar seems to focus a bit more on re-releases recently. No, we’re not talking about the emulated PS2 games (Grand Theft Auto III/Vice City/San Andreas) on the PS4; no, we’re not talking about the PS3 release of San Andreas either. It’s about another franchise that seems to approach the PlayStation 4.
It’s about Max Payne: his third, most recent game was released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in May/June 2012. There’s now a new ESRB rating for Max Payne for the PlayStation 4. (Interesting, but there’s no sight of a Xbox One rating…) It’s suspicious because this means Mr. Payne is going to swallow painkiller after painkiller on the current generation’s Sony console.
However, we’re just disappointed to see another publisher jumping into the pool of publishers with a lot of recent current-gen ports/re-releases with minimal updates, despite releasing the original game just a few years ago. Sure, it’s a good thing for those whose first console is the PS4 and don’t have a good enough PC nearby, but it’s still a fact: a 3/4-year-old game is likely to be re-released. Or, it’ll be the PS2 games by Remedy emulated on the PS4. We’ll see.
