PlayStation Store will disappear in another region on a certain platform shortly. Don’t worry, it’s not the PlayStation 4 (that would be a suicidal move for Sony). Instead, the Japanese company pulls the availability of the PS Store off from an older platform in just a few weeks.
PlayStation Store already disappeared from the PSP in September 2014 in Europe, although Sony kept the support going for North America for quite some extra time. Now, the North American region can wave goodbye to the PS Store as Sony announced the closure date. They will pull the PSP‘s PS Storefront on March 31 – the SCEA region has just thirty days left to be able to access it on their PSPs. Sony gave no explanation or reason for why they are doing this.
You can still buy content on the PlayStation Store‘s website, and you can also access your previous purchases via the Download hub on your PSP. However, it’s about time to move on, as this handheld is over a decade old. Let’s hope the PS Vita won’t suffer the same fate shortly.
