A year ago, Konami‘s implosion already began. In the end, Hideo Kojima was blown out of his former workplace – he’s been working for Konami for almost three decades. Snake talks about this situation.
Or… at least Snake‘s voice, David Hayter. Sure, in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Big Boss was voiced by Kiefer Sutherland instead, but Hayter was an MGS veteran. He only found out that he isn’t needed when he ran into a producer at a studio, who told him everything. Hayter also admitted that his relation with Kojima was somewhat strained, mentioning that he had to re-audit for both MGS 3 and 4. Hideo Kojima wanted to replace him with someone else for reasons unknown.
David Hayter has no ill feelings towards Sutherland and his opinion about Kojima is neutral. „The whole thing could have been handled better and a little more respectfully, but I’m not going to cry about it.”
He doesn’t think he will work with Kojima ever again. „I’ve got no particular love for Kojima. I don’t feel any need to go back and work with him.”
