MOVIE NEWS – Benedict Cumberbatch emerged on ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ earlier tonight to introduce the first trailer for Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’.
Less than a week ago, ABC announced a full week of Marvel-themed episodes on the late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! While most of the shows center on Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch stopped by tonight to debut the first trailer for this superhero adventure, arriving in theaters November 4.
This new trailer comes a week earlier that production wrapped on Doctor Strange, succeeding a shoot in New York City. Filming began this past November, with production first taking place in Nepal, before moving to London, Hong Kong, Kathmandu and finally New York City. Just before production wrapped, new set photos gave us our first look at Mads Mikkelsen as the mysterious villain, although no details have been revealed regarding his character.
Doctor Strange narrates the story of Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), a celebrated neurosurgeon who uncovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions after a near-fatal car accident. The film will show audiences corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe never before explored, thanks to director Scott Derrickson, who is working from a script by Jon Spaihts, based on the comic book character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Doctor Strange is set for release on November 4, going up against Warner Bros.’ Bastards and 20th Century Fox’s Trolls.
The Doctor Strange supporting actors are Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amy Landecker, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Scott Adkins and Mads Mikkelsen. Marvel still hasn’t announced which characters Amy Landecker, Scott Adkins, Mads Mikkelsen and Rachel McAdams are playing just yet, but there are rumors that Rachel McAdams is playing the Night Nurse. Tilda Swinton is playing the Ancient One, with Chiwetel Ejiofor portraying Baron Mordo and Michael Stuhlbarg playing Nicodemus West.
Last December, Scott Derrickson who is the Doctor Strange director of Doctor Stange, published a set photo with the new Spider-Man, Tom Holland, who makes his debut in Captain America: Civil War next month.
