While we didn’t take a look at the NX for a while, Nintendo decided to use exactly that time to announce that their new console will launch in March 2017. Since then, other details have surfaced about the mysterious NX.
First of all, it seems the NX is going to use AMD technology. Seeing how the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One (not to mention their possible successors/upgraded versions as well) also picked AMD as their technological partner, the NX might follow their footsteps. The new N console might use the new AMD Zen technology that is set to launch between Q3 2016 and Q1 2017 – that is suitable for the NX, isn’t it? If Nintendo moves towards the x86 architecture, third-party developers would finally start to support the NX due to easier developing…
Nintendo boss Tatsumi Kimishima also talked about the new console. When the Wii U came out, they sold it at a loss due to the Japanese yen being strong. They do not want to repeat history with the NX. Kimishima also mentioned that the March release date would allow the software line-up to be ready.
Launch titles are important. If we look at only NA line-ups, the PS1 had Ridge Racer and Rayman. The PS2 came with Tekken Tag Tournament, Armored Core 2, Dynasty Warriors 2, DOA2 Hardcore, UT, and SSX (and this is just part of the list – what a strong line-up!), the PS3 had CoD3, NFS Carbon, Resistance, and Ridge Racer 7…
