Insomniac Games has revealed a few new details about its upcoming Spider-Man game, which is going to be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.
The devs’ Twitter account responded to multiple questions. They say that „We can’t change that. Spider-Man is a Marvel property. We don’t control that. Sony doesn’t do multiplat games.”, when someone asked if the game could be multiplatform similar to Titanfall 2. (We have to point something out, though: Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding is going to be available on the PC as well, not just PS4…) They also mentioned that „this is NOT an origin story, it’s very much a more experienced Spider-Man.”
Also, there is no Sunset Overdrive 2 in development, although „it would be awesome.” Therefore, if you hoped for the Xbox One-exclusive game to get a sequel, you are put on thin ice.
The game, which has no release date yet, will use the Insomniac Engine. Naughty Dog had no involvement in this engine’s development, although they have been swapping some codes with Insomniac in the PS2 era when they were working on Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank titles in the past.
@NitroHype @Gamer1Mack We can’t change that. Spider-Man is a Marvel property. We don’t control that. Sony doesn’t do multiplat games.
