One journalist from Wall Street Journal has hinted that there won’t be just a PlayStation 4 NEO coming shortly.
Takashi Mochizuki in his WSJ article (which you cannot read without paying, but PlayStation Universe has also written about it here) wrote that Sony, similar to Microsoft, will not prepare one console, but two. According to him, Sony might reveal the PlayStation 4 Slim in September, which is probably pointing to a Tokyo Game Show reveal.
However, Sony hasn’t officially confirmed Mochizuki’s report yet, but seeing how all Sony consoles (and also handhelds) got a smaller re-release (and, in the case of the PS3, two of them!), it’s impossible that the PlayStation 4 Slim won’t be a reality. Maybe Sony will confirm its existence, just like with the PS4 NEO.
