UPDATE: Evolve, which changed to a free-to-play model last week, has success on Steam. The game will roll out the change to the PS4 and X1 version as well, but until then, it’s time to celebrate. If you log in until June 18, 10 AM PST, you can get Griffin‘s Blood Eagle Hunter skin for free.
Turtle Rock Studios finally see the success that they probably hoped for back in 2015 – the question is, how far will Evolve’s train go?

ORIGINALE: Recently we wrote about here how Evolve‘s PC version turned towards a free-to-play model. This change is already reaping results.
While we expected that becoming free will lead to Turtle Rock‘s game having more players on PC (soon, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 will also switch its model), but we have probably never seen a similar jump in the number of players. In June, the number of players who paid for Evolve peaked at around 200 on Steam. However, when Stage 2, the free-to-play change arrived, there was a peak of forty thousand (yes, 40.000!) players, boosting Evolve up into Steam‘s top ten! Sure, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike Global Offensive (with 950k and 600k players, respectively) is far from Evolve‘s results, the improvement still deserves to be mentioned.
What if Evolve launched in 2015 with the free-to-play approach on all three platforms? How much could have its fate changed?
