In August, and September, there’s a change that the local market will see a PlayStation 4-drought.
On Twitter, a Japanese retailer has uploaded the picture below. He’s warning the customers that there may not be enough PS4s in the next two months, and there’s also a bit of Japanese humor included, as Nostradamus is getting mentioned.
Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4 has over three million sales in Japan. The console is getting about twenty thousand sales each week, and it is going to catch up to the Nintendo Wii U: this console launched a year before the PlayStation 4, and it has 3.2 million sales at the moment.
But going back to the shortages: is Sony preparing for the same thing as Microsoft? Sure, MS is getting rid of the basic Xbox One models before the launch of the S version, while Sony may silently prepare for the launch of the PlayStation 4 NEO in October. (It’s not confirmed!) However, the PlayStation VR will launch in October regardless, so it’s going to be interesting to see what the local market will do in the next two and a half months.
