The current console generation consists mostly of re-releases, so the question „why do I have to pay for something I already own on the previous console and still have this game?” is legit.
Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, announced at The Game Awards, will contain Duke Nukem for those who pre-order the game. It will be the first game PUBLISHED (not developed!) by Gearbox, and their boss, Randy Pitchford answered a few questions on Twitter, explaining why they don’t follow THQ Nordic’s example. (Those who have purchased any of the two Darksiders games on the PC will receive that game’s remastered version for free on Steam…)
„Not possible – completely different publisher, era, platform (they were Games for Windows only), product/SKU, etc.” Regarding Darksiders, his reaction was „Different case. New owners of Darksiders captured all past/present/future rights. We’re just publishing someone else’s game.” What about a discount for those who have the original game? Well, Pitchford has a harsh response for that as well: „If that [lack of discount] is a deal breaker for you, you should skip it.”
His replies mean that Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, due to launch on April 7 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, will be costing 60 dollars for everyone without exceptions…
