…but there don’t seem to be a lot of them.
Patrick Söderlund, executive vice president of Electronic Arts, has had a quite positive opinion of the Nintendo Switch in his latest interview with Famitsu, although we heard a few days ago that there will only be more support if the console starts to sell well. Not to mention the rumor that the new FIFA could be potentially based on the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 version…
„I only spoke about FIFA [at the presentation], but our company’s structure lets us release all sorts of games for every platform, so we’ll go wherever the gamers go. I think Nintendo Switch will put Nintendo at the forefront of the game industry once again. Their approach is quite different from anything they’ve done in the past – they’ve listened to EA, Activision, and other companies since the beginning of the Switch’s development, so we’ve been involved throughout the whole process. They teamed up with us because they wanted to guarantee the console would be successful. Doing business with Nintendo is very important for us… We’d like to bring more and more games over for everyone,” Söderlund said.
There’s a minor issue with this quote, though. Only ONE game was confirmed by EA for the Switch, and that’s a sports game. Don’t expect Titanfall, and Mass Effect will only get ported if there’s enough demand – don’t even dream about other franchises. Electronic Arts are not going to break themselves to work on more if there’s no interest, so they seem to be completing only the bare minimum at the moment, even though this FIFA game isn’t even going to be a launch title! Remember, FIFA 13 was one of the launch games on the Wii U a few years ago!
