Kojima’s Thoughts From Death Stranding To The Switch

Hideo Kojima had several comments in the past days.

In his interview with Glixel, Kojima, who said that he wants to create games until he dies, admitted that Death Stranding isn’t meant to be nor a horror, neither a VR game. He wants to create something big and unique, something that we have never seen before. It will also contain humor, but not too much to destroy the ambiance.

Kojima was also at RTX Sydney, where DualShockers learned that Kojima had multiple offers before joining Sony, including one person from the United Arab Emirates with a ton of money. He chose Sony because he knew this company (remember, the first Metal Gear Solid launched on the PS1 almost two decades ago!), and they also offered him complete creative freedom. He believes that if he didn’t choose Sony, the first trailer with the naked Norman Reedus would already have caused trouble. There’s no sequel planned, but he could do one if there’s enough demand. In 2017, Kojima Productions plans to fill up the game’s world, as well as do some test with Guerrilla Games’ Decima Engine.

At the same location, he told IGN his opinion about the Nintendo Switch. He believes the big N’s concept can be a gamer’s dream. „You might be familiar with the fact that for a previous game that I did, we had a specification that we called ‘Transfarring’ where you could take the saved data from the PS Vita and move it over to the PS3 and back and forth like that. I believe [Switch] is an extension of that idea. The fact you can play something at home and take it outside, this is the gamer’s dream. The Switch is an evolution of that,” he said. He also brought up a comparison with Blu-ray discs that come with digital codes: in case we couldn’t finish the movie, we can watch the rest via a smartphone or a tablet.

He closed his thoughts with the cloud technology. „I feel like cloud technology is what everything will eventually move to. It’s further behind right now than I think where people thought it would be at this point, but I think it will go there, and when the infrastructure is ready, you’ll be able to play everything, on every device, anywhere. The Switch is the predecessor to this step.”

Death Stranding will launch in maybe 2018 on PlayStation 4 and potentially the PC as well.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
