The blue soldier gains a foothold in newer consoles.
Rogue Trooper originally launched in 2006 on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC, followed by a Wii port in 2009. The comic-to-game adaptation was developed by Rebellion (Sniper Elite series!), and Rogue Trooper Redux is now targeting new hardware: it is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and, surprisingly, the Nintendo Switch as well!
„Rogue Trooper Redux will remaster the Rebellion classic for a new generation of players, taking them to the chem-blasted battlefields of Nu Earth. Rogue, a bio-engineered Genetic Infantryman (or “GI”) immune to the planet’s poisonous atmosphere, is the last soldier standing against the colonial Nort regime. Carrying three fallen comrades as biochips in his equipment, Rogue is a one-unit squad of death and destruction, and he only has one thing on his mind – Revenge,” the press release says.
The Redux version is being handled by TickTock Games (Z, Worms World Party Remastered, and a ton of cricket games) – the license isn’t used by Rebellion for the first time ever.
No release date is known at the moment, only the teaser is available. Rogue Trooper was alright a decade ago, maybe it can still hold a candle to modern games today.
