Cleaning out your apartment/house never hurts.
A console repair shop in Manhattan, called XCubicle, has been getting a few consoles with unexpected things inside them: Patrick Che, the owner talks about how he received something with a coin inside its disc drive (it’s not an arcade machine…), or 3DSes with bad modifications. These are easily topped by cockroaches inside PlayStation 4.
The shop gets a „buggy” PS4 each week on average, and repairing it costs 25 dollars. The reason why Sony’s console gets infected is that it is usually stored in an enclosed, dark area in a horizontal state, making it easy to access for the cockroaches.
While the Xbox One can get into the same trouble, the Sony console is in a winning position for several reasons: the ventilation grates are at the bottom, and they are wide as well, allowing insects to enter without a problem. Also, the power supply is in the PS4; the console is hotter than the Xbox One, which is another positive for the bugs. As Sony strictly refuses to take in this kind of infested consoles (which usually don’t turn on due to cockroaches melting onto the power supply, disallowing the PS4 to turn on), no wonder XCubicle has a lot of activity.
Always try to put the console high, and maybe try placing it in a vertical place in the open to not get unwanted bugs in your PlayStation 4…
