Did the „switch” happen with the players?
Nintendo has released its financial report, which you can find here . However, we get right into the meat of the topic: the Nintendo Switch has shipped 2.74 million units, which the big N considers as a promising launch. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild still has more game sales than the Switch itself (!!!) – 2.76 million Switch, 1.08 million Wii U copies were sold so far.
Nintendo wants to reach ten million total sales for the Switch this financial year, which means a little too conservative: ~7.26 million in a year? At least they said something bold in software sales: they want to get 35 million sales in this financial year (up to March 31, 2017) with the help of a „continuous stream of third-party games.”
The 3DS sold 7.27 million handhelds last year, a 7% year-on-year improvement – not bad by a six-year-old hardware…
