Somehow, we are not surprised about this delay.
Seeing Ys Net announce that Shenmue III, which was slated for a late 2017 release on PlayStation 4 and PC, would not be out at E3, was already an ominous sign. We were correct, unfortunately: the originally promised release date on Kickstarter will not be held by the developers. Fine, when will it launch then?
Yu Suzuki told everyone in a video message that Shenmue III is unable to be available in the best possible quality at the end of this year. Instead, the new release date is now the second half of 2018. The delay could be as much as a year…
We just don’t want another case of Mighty No. 9 (whose PS Vita and 3DS ports are still unavailable!): a huge success on Kickstarter, followed by a somewhat terrible game in retail.
