The Xbox One/Windows 10-exclusive game is knocking on Gabe Newell’s door.
Iron Galaxy, the developer, has confirmed that later this year, Killer Instinct will be available to those who do not want to use Windows 10, as the game is receiving a Steam port. Killer Instinct is a reboot, by the way – one of the Xbox One launch titles was developed by Double Helix, but they were purchased by Amazon, which led to Iron Galaxy taking over the project altogether.
The fighting game has a somewhat unique model: you can play the game’s all modes for free, but only with one, regularly rotated character. Need all characters? Fork out 40 dollars for the Definitive Edition to get all characters up to Season 3, but you’ll still not get two of them.
Will the cross-play remain between X1 and PC if the Steam port launches shortly?
That’s right, KI is coming to Steam later this year! Thanks to @CEOJebailey for helping us break the news. More details to follow.
