Scott Cawthon wants to step back from his series, which means the sixth numbered installment, which was under development, is gone.
He informed about how he feels in a Steam community post: „After forcing myself to keep working on it day after day, I realized something – I just don’t want to work on this. With each game’s release, I think the expectations get higher and higher for the next, and rightfully so. Each game SHOULD be better than the last! But that pressure starts to mount, and I fear that I’ve been neglecting other things in my life for the sake of trying to keep up with those mounting expectations.”
He didn’t want to provide details about Five Nights At Freddy’s 6, but he added that he would not entirely abandon FNaF behind, as he wants to create something fun and entertaining for the fans. (A movie, a new book, and a VR-game are still in development.)
Perhaps the disastrous launch of Five Night’s At Freddy’s World has also been an issue for Cawthon.
