A month after the E3 announcement, we can take another look at Atari’s console.
Ataribox will arrive in two versions. One of them is going for a retro touch in its visuals. If you had an Atari 2600, expect something similar. The other version is going to be red and black. Both Ataribox versions will have the front-facing Atari logo and four LEDs. On the back, we can find an HDMI port, four USB ports, as well as an SD card slot.
That’s all we know. Atari didn’t go into the specs, pricing, or release date, so it may just be a console with a few classics and some contemporary titles. If Atari is clever, they will allow customers to include their games via the SD card slot, and if they want an honest product, make it so it can support ALL games from the 2600 up to the Jaguar, including the handheld Lynx games.
If Atari can pull off the latter thought, and with a decent price to boot, then Ataribox would stand a chance on the market.
