There is a chance that Square Enix‘ current cash cow game could show up on the new Nintendo platform.
Final Fantasy XV‘s director, Hajime Tabata sat down to chat with IGN at gamescom, where the Switch was also mentioned: „Obviously we’d have to think about what the meaning and what the significance of bringing this to Switch would be. You know, whether people would want to play it and whether it would be the right thing to do for our team.” Why is Tabata so held back in his comment?
It’s simple: he didn’t talk about the version that launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in late November (with the PC port coming early next year), but the one that is in development for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices in ten episodes – the Pocket Edition! Square Enix is considering porting a MOBILE GAME to the Switch, even though it has no controller support at the moment…
It’d be a shock if they ended up porting that game. They already made themselves look stupid during the 2014 PlayStation Experience: they announced Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation 4, but instead of the remake, it was the PS1 original ported to the PC, which would then be ported to the current-gen console…
