Sony‘s chief planning officer wants more customers to “continually pay for content” from PlayStation.
Although Sony‘s chief planning officer is confident that the Japanese company will meet its sales forecasts for the current fiscal year, the manager has admitted that in no case can ignore the success of Nintendo Switch; it has attracted the attention of a large number of fans of the world of video games.
“For now we can safely say that the goal of 630 billion yen can be achieved, but even our strongest sectors have problems to deal with, and our biggest risk is losing our intensity,” said Kazuhiko Takeda. What problems are you referring to?
In the field of video games, although “PlayStation 4 sales are still strong before the Christmas season, we can not ignore that Nintendo Switch has also captured the attention of consumers,” says the Sony director. In this sense, adds Takeda, his business model “involves selling both the console and video games, so we are working to get more consumers to pay for the content continuously, for example, through subscription services.”
It has recently been confirmed that, to date, 2.5 million Switch and 5.5 million PS4 have been sold in Japan.
