BioWare‘s recently delayed game might be getting some ideas from elsewhere.
Anthem was originally set to launch this autumn, but it wouldn’t have been kept and thus was pushed to early 2019 to allow BioWare not to launch a hastily thrown together game (which would likely not be tolerated by Electronic Arts…), which is proven by the developers’ activity on Reddit.
Brenon Holmes, the game’s technical design director, responded to a fan idea, which brought up the possibility to give players titles/ranks for completing certain challenges/tasks in the game, similarly to what we saw in World of Warcraft. His response follows: „Cool idea, I’ll kick it over to the systems team – I think there’s a way of integrating this into something else we’re already doing.”
The Javelins’ (the exoskeletons – The Surge, for example, had those as well) possibility of visual damage was also brought up. Here’s Holmes’ response: „This is something we’ve been talking about – it’s a little unclear on whether or not we can incorporate it into the final shader solution… but I think we’re interested in something like this!” Which means there may be technical issues behind making this possible and seeing how the previous rumors said that the team had trouble with the Frostbite engine, it might not happen.
We’re likely forced to wait until E3 to hear more about Anthem, and possibly, that’s where we will also hear about the previously promised beta, too…
