The Polish team acquires a third studio.
CD Projekt RED‘s announcement reveals that aside from Kraków and Warsaw, they now have a studio in Wrocław, too, which is located in south-western Poland. Officially, the expansion was explained as to „bolster Cyberpunk 2077‘s development.” (And it’s understandable: the last time we wrote about the game, we learned that their futuristic RPG might be in development for the next-gen consoles, too…)
With this move, CD Projekt RED effectively acquired the Strange New Things dev team – the eighteen industry veterans, who form the core of the group, previously worked on games such as Call of Juarez, Dying Light, Hitman, Dead Island, and The Witcher series. Makes sense: if you have money and you have the talent to work for you, why not expand?
However, with this move, it looks like Cyberpunk 2077‘s development isn’t in an advanced state yet. The game has to be shown at E3, so they might have to double down on development to have it out at Los Angeles. They need the workforce…
