It seems Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII’s rival is entering the party…
Yesterday, we wrote about how this year’s, Treyarch-developed Black Ops IIII would get a Battle Royale mode (developed by Raven Software, the team behind Modern Warfare Remastered), which would replace the single-player campaign which slipped behind in development. Well then, it’s Battlefield V‘s turn!
VentureBeat reports on its anonymous sources that DICE already made a prototype in the style of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds/Fortnite: Battle Royale. However, it would arrive AFTER the autumn launch of the game, and as a free (?!) update. (We’re not buying this one, Electronic Arts: will Battlefield V have loot boxes like Star Wars: Battlefront II…?)
We already saw Ubisoft planning something, too – Battle Royale as a genre can’t be avoided anymore. It became successful, which means the publishers will jump on the train to get that sweet money (Electronic Arts, Activision, possibly Ubisoft). Perhaps we’ll hear at EA Play if the rumor is true or not.
