Sony Profiting Off A Charity Item? [VIDEO]

Although the item on the PlayStation Store has good intentions, Sony might be looking into profit from it.

On the Hungarian local PlayStation Store, you can see how Blizzard is selling a pink Mercy skin for 4590 HUF. (From ResetEra), you can see an image under this paragraph where the UK Store sells it for 13 pounds. It’s going to be important to remember.)

In the description, you can read that Blizzard is donating 10.12 pounds (or its local equivalent), or in other words, 78% of the money to Breast Cancer Research (BCR) between May 8 and 21. So, it’s possible that Sony might take 22% into its pockets. Why is it important?

On Battle.net, as well as the Xbox/Microsoft Store, you can read that Blizzard forwards 100% of the money to BCR. Which means Microsoft does not want to profit off the charity, but there’s another twist here. On the AMERICAN PlayStation Store, the description writes 100%, which is why we are questioning the situation altogether.

Blizzard will donate at least 250 thousand dollars, and not just from the Mercy skin – GamesIndustry reports that they will also make a pink Mercy T-shirt, plus Blizzard will also team up with a few content creators, streamers, to show the initiative in action for more people.

The idea is excellent, but Sony might be in a cross-fire here. Let’s hope it’s just a mistake in the description.
