For the CEO of the company, the challenge is not to exceed sales of GTA V.
Strauss Zelnick, executive director at Take-Two Interactive, has spoken with the magazine Game Informer about what are the expectations of success of the American company with the increasingly close Red Dead Redemption 2. With this topic of conversation in the background, Zelnick was asked if he considers that Rockstar‘s new bet for the open world could exceed the demand for the incombustible GTA V, with 95 million copies sold. Zelnick answered the following:
“Grand Theft Auto is the most profitable entertainment IP in all of history and that is something really remarkable, but in my opinion, I do not think that each launch should aim to surpass another in success. For me the challenge is, have we done something to be really proud of? Have we created an experience capable of being loved and enjoyed by consumers? The answer, according to the behaviour of the public is yes and that is enough for me.”
“I think it will be a success?” Yes. I think it will be a great success? Yes, I know how big it will be? Certainly not, but I can affirm that the team has put all its soul and efforts there and it shows.”
Red Dead Redemption 2 will hit the market for PS4 and Xbox One on October 26. On its computer release, we recently echoed a Rockstar curriculum mentioned RDR2 for PC.
