“On the House” became “Off the House”: You Can Kiss EA’s Free Game Deal Good Bye!

Every good thing must come to an end at one point, but it shouldn’t happen like how this event went down…

Electronic Arts ran the On the House program on Origin from 2014 – they offered several old-but-gold games for free without any strings attached. Notice how we used the past tense in the previous sentence: it’s intentional.

On Reddit, the users found that Origin‘s On the House page link redirects to the main page. Electronic Arts‘ representative confirmed the silent death – the downloaded games remain in our possession, but the program is over. We’re not even going to quote the PR talk.

With this move, Electronic Arts is shifting over to Origin Access Premier, which, what a surprise, a SUBSCRIPTION model, offering subscribers unlimited access to newer games. No wonder Andrew Wilson, EA‘s CEO, talked about the subscriptions’ advantages (we wrote about this subject yesterday).

And with this move, we bid farewell to On the House.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
