It’s right to say that without Tomb Raider, Uncharted wouldn’t exist, but what are the differences between the two franchises that seem to share a few gameplay elements?
Jason Dozois, the narrative director of Shadow of the Tomb Raider at Eidos Montreal, has answered the question to GameSpot: „The tone is a little different–they’re more grounded with their mythology, and we’re more magical. They’re more humor-oriented and we’re a bit more drama-oriented. I think we have a uniqueness on the exploration side. I loved Uncharted 4; it was a lot of fun. Great storytelling and great character moments. It’s fun to be in that world.”
Is Dozois telling the truth? The reader can decide for themselves. Here are three new gameplay video for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which, fortunately, isn’t thirty seconds long. It features Lara Croft „becoming one with the jungle” as she is outnumbered and outgunned. The goal here is to „stop a Mayan apocalypse.” (The second and third videos are from GameInformer and PlayStation Underground, respectively.)
Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches on September 14 (or 12 if you bought the Deluxe version of the game) on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
