One Piece gets regular game adaptations – only Naruto seems to receive more than this franchise. However, both franchises are tied to Bandai Namco…
Ganbarion has previously worked on several One Piece titles that were launched in the West as well (the last one was 2014’s Unlimited World RED), and they continue to keep their trend with an action-adventure game. In the trailer, Luffy gets captured (and he seems to appreciate the capture for some reason), and he’ll meet Borsalino, Admiral Issho, and Rob Lucci on his way.
Thankfully, we also have fourteen minutes of gameplay provided by DualShockers taken from the Gamescom build, which already shows that the game’s style is close to the manga’s.
One Piece: World Seeker, which will be the first open-world game in the franchise, will launch later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game needs a bit of work yet – invisible walls in the Gamescom build? Really?
