Yesterday, we said that after 2017’s Assassin’s Creed: Origins and this year’s upcoming Odyssey, the franchise might be annual again. We were wrong!
Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, told GameSpot that in 2019, there will be no new Assassin’s Creed game on the market, relying on his previous promise about not having annual releases for the AC franchise on a continuous basis.
„On Assassin’s Creed, we had Origins in 2017, and we have Odyssey this year, but we are not going to have a full-fledged Assassin’s next year. It’s just because the team were working separately, so we have two games now, one year after the other. But next year you’re not going to have a fully fledged one.
What you’ll have is lots of content coming on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The team want to give, on a regular basis, some new possibilities for play, so when you get Odyssey this year, you’re going to get in for a couple of years. The additional time gave the team the possibility to bring what they wanted to. The community has been responding very well to it, and when I see what we are bringing with Odyssey I know that the community that got back in with Origins will be amazed,” Guillemot said. Those are bold words by the CEO of Ubisoft.
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will launch on October 5 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
