Techland wants to give it all into the Dying Light sequel.
Dying Light 2 was announced during Microsoft’s E3 press conference, and it doesn’t want to be a small sequel. Tymon Smektala, the lead designer, told Rocket Beans, a German YouTube channel, that Dying Light 2 is planned to be „a bold sequel with a huge online component that the Polish studio is not quite ready to talk about yet.” It can’t be battle royale: a few days ago, we wrote about Dying Light: Bad Blood, a spinoff that is meant to ride the waves of the battle royale fad with its unique Dying Light gameplay elements.
The first Dying Light had Be The Zombie, an optional mode where other players could invade you as a zombie. Perhaps Techland is planning to expand this idea a bit further, but since nothing is announced yet, we can only guess in the dark…
Dying Light 2 is set to launch next year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but Smektala expressed that they could delay the game if there’s a need for it. (Which sounds like they might already have an idea to shift the launch to early 2020, which doesn’t seem unlikely.)
