THQ Nordic has been purchasing things left and right this year.
Don’t forget, in February, they acquired Koch Media, which means they got Deep Silver and all their IPs as well. Since then, they also purchased TimeSplitters and Second Sight, and now, we can carve two more names up on their ever-growing list: they acquired Alone in the Dark and Act of War from Atari Europe.
Many people know the former IP – it’s a survival horror franchise that started in 1992 (far before Resident Evil and Silent Hill!), although its last game, 2015’s Alone in the Dark: Illumination, was far from being a good game (and that’s kindly put). Act of War was a real-time strategy series with two games: Direct Action and High Treason launched in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
Seeing THQ Nordic’s strategy, they might first try doing some remasters for these franchises, and if they succeed, a new instalment could follow later down the line. We wouldn’t be surprised if THQ Nordic pulled in a few more IPs this year, though…
