Divinity: Original Sin’s developers were rumoured to be the team behind the revival of Baldur’s Gate.
The post follows: „The new colleague of mine is a former Larian employee. He says Swen acquired the Baldur’s Gate license. No further information on when they’re going to use it and for what, but they have it.” Brian Fargo, known for being the founder of Interplay and inXile, added fuel to the fire on Twitter saying he knows who the Baldur’s Gate 3 developers are.
The situation takes a twisty turn here: WCCFTech has contacted Larian Studios, who denied the rumour, saying they did not acquire any IP. Instead, they would like to continue working on Divinity, as well as their new game, which is codenamed Gustav. The latter would be announced, „at the right time.”
Still, Fargo’s comment deserves another mention: what if it’s inXile (who previously revived Wasteland) who are working on the next Baldur’s Gate after all?
