You might have to perform a factory reset on your console if you receive it…
Although Sony Interactive Entertainment hasn’t responded yet, there is already some discussion on Reddit, where users recommend others to set their messages to private. The message that causes the PlayStation 4 to lock up (forcing us to do a factory reset) is nearly impossible to be deleted from the mobile app. Let’s see the message in question, causing the CE-36329-3 error:
It’s dangerous spam, and that is a kindly put description! Let’s take a look at two comments: „Even deleting the message from the mobile app doesn’t work. It happened to me during Rainbow Six: Siege. A player from the other team used a dummy account to send the message and crashed my entire team. We all have had to factory reset. Only one of our guys wasn’t affected, and he has his messages private. Do this ASAP to prevent this from happening to you.” (Huntstarck); „This just happened to me during Rocket League. Got a message then after a minute my controller stopped working, and everything went silent. Now I can’t access the home menu. It just goes to the ‘Report Problem’ screen every time.” (ThatPissedOffDude)
So if you haven’t done so, set your messages to private to block them from strangers – it should be done as soon as possible. Everything is better than a forced factory reset on your PlayStation 4, isn’t it?
A ResetEra user explains a workaround: „Turn off the console, take the phone app and erase the message, then press down the power button for 7 seconds to make the PlayStation 4 go into Safe Mode. Finally, proceed to Rebuild the Database to fix the problem. (This is not factory reset, nothing will be erased). Then, report the dummy account to Sony.”
