Josue Benavidez, a designer at Insomniac Games, has uploaded several images to Twitter from an early build of Spider-Man.
Benavidez showed some intriguing images from the PlayStation 4-exclusive that launched roughly 1.5 months ago (and which will get its first DLC next week, and a New Game+ mode, plus the Ultimate difficulty level in a patch „soon”): on them, New York City’s buildings are nothing more than mere blocks scattered around the map.
„We use a proprietary toolset and engine to build our games, but it includes integration with other tools like Maya and Houdini. So it was a combo of our in-house tools, Maya, and Houdini even from the very early box map phase,” Benavidez said. You can even see the improvement Spider-Man has gone through on the comparison images.
It’s not exaggerating to say that it’s always enjoyable to see major games in their early builds, and we weren’t disappointed – the images are marvellous. We wonder what else Insomniac could have in store?
