N7 Day was yesterday (November 7), and BioWare celebrates it after the flop of Mass Effect: Andromeda, too…
The term flop is used for a good reason: Mass Effect: Andromeda, which launched last year’s Spring, did not get single-player DLC, and its dev team, BioWare Montreal, also got shut down, but BioWare moved on to develop Anthem (which we have yet to see if it’s a good IP or not…). However, the team happily talks about their history with Mass Effect in the video below, and they also announced that Andromeda now supports the Xbox One X.
Towards the end, Casey Hudson, the general manager of BioWare, takes over with a mug in his hand. From him, we heard earlier the summer that they have „secret projects” in development, and his mug has a well-known comment from Shephard that says „I should go.” (In case you don’t remember, watch how many times it and its iterations were said in the trilogy!)
„[To me, N7 Day] means coming into the studio every day, dreaming about what the next great Mass Effect game will be,” Hudson says. The video mainly shows the original trilogy, which could mean something… also, Michael Gamble, who is currently the lead producer of Anthem (and was a producer on several Mass Effect titles), wrote the following on Twitter: „Happy #N7Day to everyone! I love this IP deeply, and we’ve grown together over the years as fans and developers in it. We still have stories left to tell in this universe…the future is bright.”
So, BioWare hasn’t given up on Mass Effect yet. We have yet to see if Electronic Arts has done so – if Anthem flops, they might be on the chopping block next year…
